Networking Strategy

Networking Is Part of Branding

As part of branding yourself, you are going to try to be everywhere you can be on the web. You are going to be interacting with people in your niche as well as other marketers and businesses in your niche.

It’s your goal to get in the “in” crowd. You want to be everywhere your prospects are and you want to be associated with the most popular products, services, and people in your niche.

The way you do that is by putting yourself out there. Sometimes, it can be a little bit intimidating to interact with other people on social media and on forums. But, you just have to go for it. Look for ways you can help others. If someone asks a question on a forum and you know the answer, go ahead and answer them. The more you help people and provide value to people in your niche, the more likely you are to successfully build your brand and get people to pay attention to you.

You can also network on your blog as well as on other people’s blogs. You can write guest posts for already successful blogs to network and leverage the traffic that blog is getting. You can also comment on blogs and really join in the conversation of the niche. Being active on other people’s blogs is a great way to network and get your name out there even though you may be brand-new and really just starting to brand yourself.

Targeted Traffic Is Part of Branding

You can also write articles and distribute them around the web. Some of these articles can be posted on article directories like EzineArticles and GoArticles.com. You can also do searches on the web for relevant niche sites and e-newsletters that accept submissions. Later, we’ll talk about how to leverage the assets and the traffic of others, this is just one way. Networking, driving traffic, and leveraging assets of others is a big part of building your brand.

It can be really helpful to make a list of all the different ways you can network and get to know people in your niche. How can you get your name out there and really set yourself apart? Figure this out, and you’ll be able to build your brand faster and more successfully than you ever thought possible.

Tying All the Pieces Together

This whole process ties really nicely together. Building a true brand that speaks for who you are and what the people of your niche need and want is definitely the way to go. Your brand is going to stand the test of time. Your name is going to become synonymous with your niche. Build your brand mindfully, and you will succeed.

By the way— part of building your brand is branding yourself as an expert. This might be intimidating for you, especially if you’re newer to this. You shouldn’t get intimidated, though. Everyone has to start somewhere. As long as you know more or can learn more than a subset of your niche, you can teach them. There are always people who are newer than you. There are always people who will learn best from you—you owe it to them to get your brand and content out there.

You Aren’t Just Playing Pretend

There’s a phenomenon where most experts feel like they are at least somewhat playing pretend. They psyche themselves out and worry that they’ll be “found out.” But the truth is, as long as you’re providing value, you are an expert. As long as people are learning from you and you’re helping them, you are an expert. It doesn’t matter that there are people out there who are “more” expert than you are. You’re not an imposter, you’re the real deal.

So, focus on building your brand and getting your name out there as an expert. As you do, build your list and start to develop a following. You want to build a relationship with the people on your list—you want to be the #1 expert and the #1 brand they turn to, every time.

Network with those who are already more successful than you. Pay attention to how other people have branded themselves and the relationship they have with the people of the niche.

Offer people value, get buy buttons out there, and above all else don’t be afraid to promote yourself.

Web Marketing: What does it mean to optimize a website for conversions?

Web Marketing: What does it mean to optimize a website for conversions?

There’s a lot of media hype about “driving traffic” to your website or “search engine optimization” services…but few people talk about what to do with the traffic once it comes to your website or landing page.

It sounds silly, but many folks forget that once you have people on your website, the next step is encouraging them to engage with you. Whether it’s to buy a product, read something or leave an email, you most likely want them to do something.

If you spend a lot of money on SEO or advertising for your website but the site design itself isn’t optimized so that people want to STAY on your site…then your money spent is a total waste.

Here I discuss 3 key points to consider for optimizing a website for conversions (that is, getting people to take action and engage with you).

Kompozer Tutorial: HTML Basics For Beginners

Kompozer Tutorial: HTML Basics For Beginners

With the popularity of WordPress and a host of point-and-click website builders, it’s easy to get the false impression the HTML is a product of a bygone era. Not only is this an inaccurate perception, but this Kompozer tutorial will illustrate that it is no longer the province of programmers with considerable HTML experience. And if you need to create a quick and easy landing page with links that lead to a product download site and a subsequent Thank You page, then working HTML can be an ideal solution.

As described in the video, you can find the program at Kompozer.net, where there are Mac, Windows and Linux versions for you to download. After choosing the appropriate version and installing the program, you will open to a blank screen with a menu that looks quite similar to programs like Microsoft Word.

In fact the whole process is very much like using a word processor. You can add text, change the size and color of the font, add links and so on. With links you have the option of modifying the action to include opening a new page or standing pat.

As with your normal word processor, you’ll see a toolbar near the top of the screen. This normal mode is the recommended for most users because this is easy WYSISWYG interface. Most of the text enhancements that you can find on a word processor are here: Adding tables, forms, bullet points, justifying text, highlighting, etc.

Adding images, for instance, is a good example of Kompozer’s easy-to-use effectiveness. It’s simply a matter of adding your artwork to your HTML document and customizing the picture to your taste. All you need to do is to be sure that the image is located in the file folder of your hosting account and not the copy that is on your computer. By using the constrain mode as described in detail within this Kompozer tutorial, you can be sure that the image parameters remain consistent as you adjust placement and you have several options of where to add any accompanying text.

We hope you have enjoyed this introductory Kompozer tutorial. Remember that Kompozer is a totally free web page editing and publishing tool, and if you have a yearning to work in HTML, this is probably one of the best ways to begin.

Social Media Branding

Setting up Your Social Media Accounts

These days, you absolutely need to be present on social media. Companies both large and small are on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, and more. Remember to brand yourself consistently. Your goal is to be present everywhere the people of your niche are present. You are going to link between your blog and your social media accounts, and vice versa.

Which social media accounts you should sign up for really depends on your niche. At minimum, links to Facebook should be on your blog or website. Twitter is a standard as well– there’s no doubt people from your niche have Twitter accounts they are active in using. Take a look at where the already successful people in your niche hang out on social media and what appears to be the most active.

Ideally, you should consider creating a Facebook page or a Facebook group as well. A Facebook page is different from your typical profile. A Facebook page is designed to help you promote your business and connect with your fans. You can drive organic traffic to your Facebook page, link to it from your blog, or even build up your fan base by paying for Facebook traffic.

You can take a look at my Facebook Group, The IM Inside Track, to see how I am using it to connect with my audience and brand myself as someone who is dedicated to helping other people find their success. Consider what would be best for your niche and your audience.

Each social media platform has its own style. Pinterest and Instagram are heavily focused on images, graphics, and pictures. Many companies and individuals are using Instagram to show people the personal side of their lives. They often use their phone to take pictures of what they’re doing and what’s going on around them to help build their brand to connect with their audience.

Pinterest is a great way to share images from your blog and of what interests you around the web. It can be quite addictive. It can also be an excellent way to connect with your audience, grow your brand, and get more traffic. It does help to pay attention to what successful Pinterest users are doing

These days, you also want to set up a Google Plus account. Google+ is essential for hosting your own YouTube channel and Google Hangouts. Google Plus is excellent because it allows you to claim authorship of what you write for Google search results, and take advantage of all the traffic YouTube can bring. You can also really connect with your audience and ramp up your rankings with Google Hangouts. Again, follow in the footsteps of those who are successfully using these social media platforms so you can brainstorm ideas for how you can use them yourself.

You should also take a look at LinkedIn. People often use LinkedIn as a way to research professionals and experts in a niche. Join LinkedIn and list your credentials. It’s a great way to gather social proof since people can endorse you for skills and leave reviews about you and your business– this is huge since LinkedIn holds a lot of weight in the search engines. LinkedIn also has groups where you can answer people’s questions and really cement in people’s minds that you are an expert.
